Daniel Perry, a former US Army sergeant, was pardoned on Thursday by Texas Governor Greg Abbott over the July 2020 murder of BLM protestor Garrett Foster during a riot. Abbott requested the state parole board investigate his case to discuss a possible pardon just days after his conviction in April 2023, which led to a unanimous approval vote that was announced Thursday. In a statement after the vote was announced, Abbott cited Texas' 'Stand Your Ground' laws, which allow people to use deadly force if they feel they are in imminent danger.

Sydney Thomas, 26, was driving over the Clark Memorial Bridge in March when a pickup truck crashed into her and sent her careering over the side of the crossing. Dashcam footage from the truck was played in court on Wednesday as the pickup driver Trevor Branham, 33, appeared in court after being charged. In the footage, the pickup truck can be seen swerving out of its lane to avoid hitting a car that had stalled, before crashing into Thomas.

Jimmy Klass, 66, discovered he was not actually a citizen when he applied for social security retirement papers recently, after living in the country for over 60 years.  Klass, who came to US at 2 years old, has lived in the US ever since - even receiving a Social Security Card, a driver's license and a voter registration card, he told News 6

The Democrat California Governor, 56, invited criticism and mockery over his remarks about tackling homelessness, as some said he cherrypicked statistics that missed how the issue has worsened. At a press conference Tuesday, he announced a $3.3 billion fund for California counties to tackle rampant homelessness, including a mental health initiative he pushed for. 'The state of California saw a decline in veteran's homelessness,' he said. 'We have a national model.' Newsom appeared to be citing California's 30 percent drop in veteran homelessness over the past 12 years, despite a 2023 federal report finding that the state holds 28 percent of the nation's total homelessness. That figure marked a 40 percent increase from the rate it was at five years ago.

Daiane dos Santos Farias, 34, admitted to luring her husband Gilberto Nogueira de Oliveira to bed by promising kinky sex. Omar Bin Omran vanished during the decade-long Algerian civil war of 1998, leading his family to assume that he was killed in the conflict. However, he was found amid haystacks on May 12 (pictured left) - now aged 45 - only about 200 yards away from his family's home in the city of Djelfa after the captor's brother aired grievances on social media, reportedly due to an inheritance dispute. The alleged culprit, a 61-year-old doorman at the municipality in the nearby town of El Guedid, was taken into custody after attempting to flee, the ministry said. Instead of wandering around with other tourists, Caitlin found herself befriending a member of a local Bedouin tribe and she was invited to see how they live.

David Fine, from Plainville, was diagnosed with stage four lung cancer last August leaving him with a mission to find a new home for his beloved pooch Babs. Fine said that Babs walked into his life a decade ago after being given up twice before a friend took her in, and then asked him to keep her in his garage. It was after this that the two became inseparable with Fine telling the outlet that Babs, a Shar Pei Boxer mix, is 'the most important thing at this point'. The 63-year-old said: 'I had told myself I was never going to get another pet because it breaks my heart to lose them. Fortunately, she's going to outlive me this time.'
