A livestream shared on Facebook shows two heavily-armed cops taking cover behind a vehicle as they engage in the gun battle on Monday. The video begins with the terrified neighbor seemingly locked outside his house and asking someone to let him in. The officers repeatedly ask the neighbor to go inside the home, but he informs them he can't because he does not have the keys. The shooting happened as four officers were serving a warrant for felon Terry Clark Hughes, who was wanted for possessing a firearm and shot dead. A woman and a 17-year-old male were found in the home after the standoff. The two are being questioned. Officers Samuel Polche, William Elliot and Joshua Eyer were killed.

After 25 years of drought, Lake Casitas in Ventura County was finally declared to have reached capacity last week after storms from last year pushed water levels to 70 percent - and this year's intense weather conditions gave the reservoir the final push. On Friday, a steady stream of water spilled from the previously drought-stressed reservoir - despite being at just 28 percent in 2022. The water had reached the spillway's elevation at 567 feet - allowing water to finally start trickling down the spillway once again, according to the Casitas Municipal Water District. Lake Casitas, which is fed water by two creeks and a diversion structure, hasn't spilled since 1998.
